Supporting women and children from Asian communities who experience domestic violence.
Wednesday 30 September 2009, Nottingham
The Seminar
This one day seminar will explore:
Creating safe space for Asian women and children who experience domestic violence
Coping with victims who have No Recourse to Public Funds
Forced Marriage Prevention Orders and developing local intelligence to prevent forced marriages
Options for intervention (including Specialist Domestic Violence Courts, MARACs and Muslim Arbitration Tribunals)
This seminar focuses exclusively on the provision of domestic violence services to women from Asian communities. While all mainstream services (for example the health service, police and local authorities) now take domestic violence incidents much more seriously, and many domestic violence services are better funded, many specialist services to Minority Ethnic women are the losers.
