Life beyond drug and alcohol treatment
Developing Policy & Practice for delivery of continuing support and
wraparound services

Tuesday, 19 February 2008, Crowne Plaza Hotel, Central Nottingham

The conference

In Autumn 2007, Double Impact and the Addiction Recovery Forum initiated a six stop road-show of Consultation Events around the UK with the aim of finding out what service users, providers and commissioners thought about aftercare and wraparound services. The results highlighted differences in both levels and type of service provision between different areas, but provided a solid foundation for the development of a coherent definition of aftercare, and the kind of national continuing support and wraparound provision we should be aiming for.

This conference will share the findings of the Consultation Events and the subsequent policy and practice conclusions drawn from it. In particular a service user team will set out and demonstrate, with reference to case studies and examples, the five key elements crucial to the delivery of continuing support and wraparound services.

Recent years have seen progress in promoting continuing support and wraparound, and plenary speakers will address the national policy aspects of this, including government targets and monitoring mechanisms of which practitioners need to be aware.

Workshops

Workshops will be practically based around service provision, and seven of the nine workshops will run twice so that delegates can attend two sessions of their choice.
